AMPANG – A rally of 200 people who gathered for a protest against the Selangor government will not stop until their demands are met.
The ‘Save Selangor’ rally – who was organized by infamous red shirt rally and Sungai Besar Umno chief Datuk Jamal Muhd Yunos – was the first of the six monthly rallies that will continue consecutively.
At 3pm, the crowd began the rally and started to chant ‘Hidup Rakyat’ (Long Live the People) and carried posters and banners that claimed Selangor government’s assets were being misused and insults towards the MB (Chief Minister) of Selangor, Azmin Ali.
Originally scheduled to be held at Spectrum shopping centre and to end at Umno division building in Ampang, the rally did not have an approved permit, as it did not comply with the Peaceful Assemblies Act 2012.
Rally participants were told to gather at the Ampang Umno division building at the advice and request of Ampang Umno chief Datuk Ismail Kijo,
When asked about the main aim of the rally, Datuk Ismail Kijo explained the demands of the public.
“We are experiencing dissatisfaction from the public and this is what this movement is for,” Datuk Ismail Kijo said.
“Ever since the 2008 elections, we have been waiting for the manifestations that has been promised by the Selangor Pakatan Rakyat (PKR) government.
“It has now been nine years, we are still waiting for the promises they made, such as the affordable houses for the public as the houses they have built now are too expensive.
“The fact that ever since 2008 our trash problem has increased causing us to be the worst place with the highest amount of dengue problems,” Datuk Ismail Kijo continued.
Pandan Umno chief Abdul Ghani Ismail says he was very pleased with the turnout, claiming that it was important for the message to spread to the crowd.
“These are not rumors, this is a real problem that has been happening in the state of Selangor,” he said.
“Next month, we will have the rally at Subang Jaya and the following rally will be held at Gombak.
“We will not stop until the Selangor government has heard about us and our demands,” Abdul Ghani Ismail concluded.
